Baker's Delight

For the second straight year, Karen Mazanek (center) of Hackettstown ,was the winner of the Washington Business Improvement District Farmers' Market Pie Baking Contest. Farmers' Market to start June 5

From fresh sausage to baked goods to locally grown fruits and vegetables, the hugely popular Washington Farmers’ Market, the longest running farmers’ market in Warren County, is returning for its fifth straight year.

Every Friday afternoon through October 2 from 3-7 p.m. local businesses will be selling their best.

The Farmers’ Market, hosted by the Washington Business Improvement District (WBID), is conveniently located downtown in the Methodist Church parking lot on East Washington Avenue, close to the Route 57/31 intersection.

Long-awaited Boro parking lot project gets green light

WASHINGTON (June 11, 2009) – The Washington Business Improvement District received notification on June 10 that it had received approval of a loan that will allow the WBID to oversee construction of the long-awaited parking lot project in Downtown Washington.

Skylands Community Bank will provide the loan, which the USDA will guarantee.

Kapry's Polish Cuisine

Washington welcomed its newest restaurant in December, Kaprys, serving the finest in Polish cuisine.

Washington Borough Mayor Marianne Van Deursen, cuts the ribbon along with owner Irena Kuciarski, her daughter, Sylvia Krajewska, WBID Treasurer Marian Bredin, Irena's husband Lester, and Sandi Cerami, Manager of the WBID. Model train shop gets certificate of recognition

'New' Lost Ladies

Car Show

Nobody was as proud as Mike Schmidt when the annual Washington Classic Car and Motorcycle Show would take place in mid-June every year in the Borough.

Schmidt, one of the creators of the car show and a classic car aficionado himself, passed away last year, but his memory is permanently etched to the car show now, which has changed its name to Mike Schmidt Memorial Car Show.
